About Angelina
Angelina Mirabito is an Italo-Australian contemporary interdisciplinary artist based in Melbourne, working across painting, immersive installations, and collaborative spatial projects. Her practice is defined by highly textured, emotive surfaces, applied primarily with palette knives to canvas and walls, creating works that transform the atmosphere of both private and public spaces.
With a PhD in the therapeutic value of creative writing, Mirabito brings a deeply considered, self-taught approach to painting, translating emotion into form and colour. Each work negotiates a balance between chaos and resolution, offering viewers a contemplative space of stillness and intensity.
Mirabito has exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions Elastic Heart (Docklands Library, 2024), Dignity (Art2ArtSpace, 2024), Transience (Ladder Art Space, 2023), and Embers (Romulus Folio Gallery, 2025). Her work has been featured in group exhibitions such as the Biennale of Colour & Light (West End Art Space, 2024), Merri-bek Summer Show: (Be)Longing (Counihan Gallery, 2024), the Feel Good Art Prize (Quadrant Gallery, Finalist, 2025), and the Albert Park Art Show (People’s Choice Nominee, 2024).
In 2025, Mirabito’s work was included in NGV Melbourne Design Week (Art of Surface) and presented at major fairs including the Melbourne Design Show, Décor + Design Show, and Affordable Art Fair. She is engaged in an ongoing interdisciplinary collaboration with interior designer Mark Alexander, exploring intersections of art, design, and spatial experience. Their collaboration demonstrates both market interest and the scalability of their practice.
Mirabito is the ongoing artist in residence at Romulus Folio Gallery at The Gladstone since April 2025, supported by The Gladstone and FB Ideas, and is represented non-exclusively by Le Grange Gallery.
