Artist Talk with Lynda Sterns at Romulus Folio Gallery

Join us at Romulus Folio Gallery for an engaging artist talk with Lynda Sterns, as she shares insights into her creative process, artistic evolution, and the inspirations behind her evocative body of work.

Lynda’s journey has been one of continuous exploration, from her early years as a realistic painter with a deep passion for portraiture and figurative art, to her recent shift toward a vibrant, contemporary style that captures emotion through colour, movement, and abstraction. Her artistic transformation was recognised when she became a finalist in the 2023 UNEARTHED Art Prize, a milestone that encouraged her to pursue a more expressive and modern direction.

In this talk, Lynda will discuss the themes of mood and fragility that underpin her latest works, offering a glimpse into how she translates emotion into visual form. She will also delve into her techniques, from the layering of colour to the interplay of light and texture, which together create pieces that are both thought-provoking and deeply human.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Lynda about her artistic journey, her evolving palette, and the inspirations that continue to shape her work. Attendees will gain a richer understanding of her creative philosophy and the personal stories behind her paintings.

Lynda Sterns

Painting regularly has become a passion since starting a small business painting children's room decor 18 years ago. In recent years the balance has shifted to allow more time to learn and practice my contemporary painting. I am drawn to darker tones and as a keen cook love to paint snapshots of culinary moments. This in turn has lead to a fascination in hands and portraiture.
