Kasia Dudkiewicz: A Language of Knotting

A Language of Knotting

Kasia Dudkiewicz | Prototypes | Romulus Folio Gallery

During the opening of Prototypes on 13 February 2026, fibre artist Kasia Dudkiewicz spoke briefly about her practice and the hand-knotting process that defines her work.

Founder of Knotted by Hand, Dudkiewicz works with natural fibres through a slow, rhythmic knotting method. Repetition forms the foundation of her approach. Each knot records time, gesture and sustained attention. Through accumulation and tension, the work develops surface, density and structural presence.

Her fibre forms explore the relationship between material, memory and internal rhythm. Texture operates as a primary language, inviting close viewing and an awareness of both surface detail and overall form.

Presented within the spatial framework of Romulus Folio, Dudkiewicz’s works contributed to Prototypes’ broader focus on material experimentation and process-driven investigation within contemporary practice.
