PROTOTYPES Exhibition

Prototypes, Group EXHIBITION

Kasia Dudkiewicz - Lucia Medina - Arabella Strachan

February 6th - March 1st 2026

Prototypes brings together three artists whose practices are grounded in experimentation, material inquiry, and the ongoing development of form. The exhibition presents works that are complete in their own right, while also operating within a longer arc of practice, where ideas evolve through making over time.

Rather than positioning the prototype as a preliminary stage, the exhibition understands it as a moment of clarity within an unfolding trajectory. Each work holds resolution while also carrying forward material decisions, structural thinking, and formal language that may continue to develop across an artist’s practice.

Across the gallery, texture, surface, and spatial relationships guide how the exhibition is encountered. Kasia Dudkiewicz’s work engages tactile processes and material memory, where repetition and surface invite close attention. Lucia Medina’s practice emphasises gesture and form, with textured surfaces that register time, pressure, and movement. Arabella Strachan’s lamps introduce light as a material presence, extending the exhibition’s language into three dimensions and shaping how works are held within the space.

The impact wall and the gallery’s structural poles are conceived in response to the space and the exhibition’s material language, establishing coherence across the gallery while embodying the exhibition’s core premise. They reflect how the works presented exist fully in the present while carrying the momentum of what is still unfolding across each practice.

Together, the works operate in dialogue with the architecture of the gallery, revealing how material inquiry and process form a shared ground across distinct practices. Prototypes invites viewers to consider artistic practice as something that stabilises momentarily before continuing to shift, transform, and expand.
