The Collaborative Vision
Romulus Folio’s mission to explore the convergence of art, design, and architecture found an ideal home at The Gladstone. The collaboration aims to:
Transform the ground-floor space into a living arts hub with gallery exhibitions, studio and workshop zones.
Activate resident and local community engagement via exhibitions, open-studio access, workshops, and site-specific commissions.
Foster links between precinct residents, creative practitioners, and the broader public, strengthening place-making in the Fishermans Bend region.
What’s Happening In-Space
Studio & Gallery: Visitors can witness the creative process in real time. The combined working studio and gallery invites interaction, observation, and immersion.
Public Program: From palette-knife painting workshops to community art sessions and artist talks, programs are designed for broad participation and connection.
Exhibitions & Installations: Curated works emerging from the residency respond to the site and the narrative of the precinct, such as the “Tides & Transformation” exhibition exploring materiality, memory, and place.
Community & Social Engagement
Romulus Folio’s residency extends beyond exhibitions and workshops. The gallery collaborates with The Gladstone for exhibition opening nights held in conjunction with The Gladstone Monthly Social Nights, creating a lively, communal atmosphere where the local creative community can gather, experience new works, and engage with artists. This collaboration ensures the residency is not just a gallery, but a living, socially engaged creative hub.
It reflects:
Art as lived experience: creation, exhibition, and community engagement happen in situ.
Sustainability: both in the materials used and how art activates the space.
Community‑embedded cultural practice: connecting residents, creatives, and the public through art.
