“Winter is not about coldness, it’s about the inner season.”

This body of work emerged in the quieter months, when the light changes and the days ask different questions. Drawn intuitively to a palette of deep blue, brown, white, gold, and pearl, Angelina Mirabito explores themes of stillness, memory, and transformation. These colours became a quiet language for what could not be put into words, a softness beneath resilience, a depth that holds complexity.

Many of the works began as older canvases, remnants of rupture, now layered over, not to erase the past, but to honour it. The past remains visible beneath the surface. These are works born from the pain intrinsic to growth, as life presents us with situations that ask us to know ourselves and life beyond what it had been. Each one invites presence, to the door closing is synonymus with the door opening, not conclusion.

A central piece in the exhibition is Teardrops, a large-scale impact wall work painted to the rhythm of a remix track of the same name. Teardrops - Rules Remix Womack & Womack, Rules. It pulses with release, memory, and the quiet freedom that follows surrender.

A special feature of this exhibition is video art by Scott Ross, ‘Winter Reflections’.

We are also thrilled to include the inclusion of selected works created during our public workshops, held at Romulus Folio Gallery. These pieces include pieces from the Gladstone Residents and Romulus community. They have been shaped through colour, meditations, conversation, and creative exploration. They form a bridge between the personal and the collective, echoing the themes of this show.

This is not an exhibition about forgetting. It is about becoming through expressing and connecting through art, through the slow unfolding of something truer than healing and larger than the part we play.

Something like wholeness
