WINTER
An Exhibition by Angelina Mirabito
July 9 – August 5, 2025
Romulus Folio Gallery, South Melbourne
“There’s a saying: if these walls could talk.
This work asks—what if they could?”
In the stillness of winter, artist Angelina Mirabito returns to works that began in silence, paintings that once held stories too painful to finish, or moments too complex to translate. Now, these pieces are completed not to resolve the past, but to honour its shape, and to find beauty in what has been survived.
WINTER is not an escape from difficulty, it is a quiet, luminous return.
A meditation on healing, impermanence, and what it means to keep going.
With layers of blue, gold, brown, and white, and browns, whites and gold in others, the paintings offer a kind of stillness that holds complexity. They are portals: into memory, into presence, into something wordless that lives beneath change. While deeply personal in origin, each work leaves space for your own reflections, stories, and quiet recognitions.
These are not just artworks to look at, they are visual anchors, companions for the seasons of our inner lives. Pieces that meet you where you are, and gently remind you of what endures.

About the Artist
Melbourne-based artist Angelina Mirabito brings a background in Creative Writing (PhD) and a practice shaped by her Italian heritage. Also using unconventional materials and tools—palette knives, sticks, hands, and ladles—she builds layered surfaces that translate internal experiences into vibrant, tactile paintings. Her work explores the intersection of emotion, movement, and materiality, drawing attention to the physical and sensory depth of abstract expression.
The exhibition and all events are designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all visitors.
