Observer, A Group Exhibition Exploring the Art of Noticing the Details
Still, 63 × 58.5 × 5cm, mixed media, Gerard Russo, 2021
From 7th – 30th of November, Romulus Folio Gallery presents Observer, a collective exhibition that turns the gaze inward and outward at once.
Observation is more than the act of seeing; it’s how we interpret presence, memory, and emotion. Each artist in this exhibition approaches perception through their own lens, whether through the quiet luminosity of metal and pigment, the rhythm of colour, or the subtle play of surface and form.
Featuring works by Gerard Russo, Andrea Vargas, Joanne Morris, Keith Ross, Florence Wang, Ellen Jury, and Anita Mirabito, Observer weaves together perspectives that are deeply individual yet connected by a shared fascination with what it means to look closely, and to notice the details that inspire them to work with.
Some works invite contemplation through stillness; others pulse with movement, transformation, and patterns of repetition and variation. Together they create a dialogue between artist and audience, between form, perspective, pattern, and feeling.
The exhibition opens on Thursday 7th of November, 5–7 pm, at Romulus Folio Gallery, South Melbourne, and continues until 30th of November.
At 6 pm, Angelina Mirabito will give an opening speech introducing each featured artist and the exhibition’s theme.
Gallery Hours: Wednesday–Friday 12 pm–7 pm, Saturday–Sunday 12 pm–5 pm, or by appointment.
