On Friday 13 March 2026, Romulus Folio Gallery presented the opening of FUSION, an exhibition featuring the work of Mark Alexander, a highly regarded Australian luxury interior designer, artist and furniture manufacturer whose practice operates at the intersection of architecture, object and environment.

The FUSION exhibition at the Romulus Folio Gallery brings together the sculptural furniture design of Mark Alexander and the paintings of Angelina Mirabito, showcasing the intersection between art and design.

A curatorial essay by Angelina Mirabito exploring architecture, interior design and cultural activation within the Tower B lobby at The Gladstone in Melbourne’s Fishermans Bend precinct.

On Thursday evening, February 26, Romulus Folio Gallery hosted the first Romulus Salon at The Gladstone in South Melbourne. It was a thoughtful and generous beginning.

Romulus Folio Gallery operates at the intersection of contemporary art, design and myth. Located within The Gladstone in South Melbourne, in the Montague precinct of Fishermans Bend, and supported by Greystar, the gallery contributes to cultural presence within one of Melbourne’s largest urban renewal zones while maintaining independent artistic direction.

During the opening of Prototypes on 13 February 2026, Romulus Folio Macedon Ranges based fibre artist Kasia Dudkiewicz, founder of Knotted by Hand. offered insight into the material intuition and structural sensitivity that define her fibre practice.

At the opening of Prototypes on the 13th of February 2026, artist Arabella Strachan spoke about her illuminated textile works and the material processes that shape them.

Strachan’s practice centres on the relationship between fibre, structure and internal radiance. Through hand weaving, tufting and carefully constructed frameworks, she creates textile forms that extend into space while maintaining architectural clarity. Illumination is integrated within the woven structure, allowing light to move through the surface and shape the surrounding environment.

Intergenerational Creative Practice at Romulus Folio

Romulus Folio hosted a children’s plaster flower pot painting workshop within the gallery environment as part of its monthly program of artist led engagement. The session was facilitated by Angelina Mirabito, ongoing Artist in Residence.

A Meditative Palette Knife Workshop at Romulus Folio

Romulus Folio recently presented The Colour of Love, a guided palette knife painting workshop facilitated by artist and curator, Angelina Mirabito. The session invited participants into a structured meditation exploring four dimensions of love: self-love, shared love, love of life, and the experience of being loved. Each reflection was translated into colour and carried onto canvas through gesture, pressure, and texture, allowing internal states to take visual form.

Fusion Exhibition 4–28 March 2026 at Romulus Folio Gallery

From 4–28 March 2026, Romulus Folio Gallery is honoured to present Fusion, our March exhibition centred on the work of highly regarded Australian luxury interior designer, artist and master craftsman Mark Alexander.

Prototypes presents works that are fully realised; alive with a glimpse into the unfolding of contemporary artistic ideas. The exhibition explores the tension between the present and the future, revealing how each artwork exists as a completed form and as a catalyst for what is yet to come.

As part of Romulus Folio Gallery’s holiday program, we recently hosted a Kids Friendship Bracelets Workshop that transformed the gallery into a space of laughter, movement and shared making. The afternoon unfolded with colour, conversation and even some impromptu dancing, as the children brought their own rhythm and energy into the space, including teaching us the latest SpongeBob song currently trending.

As part of Romulus Folio Gallery’s holiday program, Play, Press and Build: Sensory Colour Exploration invited children aged 2.5 to 7 into the gallery for a tactile, hands-on workshop focused on colour, shape, and collaborative making. Working with primary colours alongside green, children explored play dough through touch, pressure, and construction, engaging their senses while building imaginative scenes together.

At Romulus Folio, the gallery functions as an active environment where material action, emotional awareness, and perception converge. This approach shaped Reset, Renew, Create, a palette knife painting workshop facilitated by artist and PhD researcher Angelina Mirabito.

As part of Romulus Folio Gallery’s holiday program, our Kids Finger Painting Workshop invited young participants into the gallery for an afternoon of colour, movement and tactile exploration. Children aged 2.5-7 worked with paint through direct touch, using their hands to explore texture, gesture and mark making in an open, supportive environment.

As part of Romulus Folio Gallery’s holiday program, Pour and Play: Colour in Motion invited participants of all ages into the gallery for an afternoon of shared making, movement and experimentation. Using fluid paint and guided pouring techniques, children and families explored how colour behaves when released, layered and allowed to move freely across the surface.
